Heathrow victory for campaigning villages

Many people are taking the credit for seeing off a third runway at Heathrow – but victory should really go to the tireless campaigning of the villages threatened with destruction.

Victory has many fathers, but the victory over the third runway truly belongs to the tireless campaigners of Sipson, Harlington, Longford, Cranford and Harmondsworth.

They fought for many years to save their communities

and protect the ancient buildings therein – both of which would been flattened by Heathrow’s expansion.
