I hosted an evening reception at City Hall to launch the revised version of the Mayor’s equality framework, ‘Equal Life Chances for All.’ I took a retrospective look back at the our equality and diversity achievements over the course of the Administration, and outlined our future objectives to achieve improved life chances for all Londoners.

The event generated a great deal of interest in our offices approach to mainstreaming equality, and how the GLA are fulfilling their legal duties under the Equality Act 2010. I also took this opportunity to promote the Responsible Procurement Progress Report 2011, which summarises our responsible procurement achievements over the past three and a half years.

Simon Green, Head of Sustainability, from Lakehouse was the guest speaker on the evening. Simon spoke about the benefits that harnessing diversity has brought to Lakehouse’s core business, and their progress towards achieving the Gold Standard of Diversity Works for London accreditation programme.

A number of Team London Stars were also awarded to some truly inspirational volunteers from across London. The event was well attended attracting a cross section of voluntary, community and business organisations from across the London region.
