Apprenticeship Fair For Young Londoners

7 Feb 2012

London

I attended and spoke at the Apprenticeship Fair For Young Londoners at the Institute of Directors in Pall Mall.

The Apprenticeship Fair was organised as part of the Mayor’s Responsible Procurement Programme to provide a forum for the GLA Group’s suppliers to promote their current apprenticeship vacancies. I gave the keynote speech at the event and also presented certificates alongside Tim Campbell. The aim of the event was to –

  • Promote the range and number of apprenticeship opportunities both internally and within the GLA Group’s supply chain
  • Increase access to the apprenticeship vacancies for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds or deprived boroughs of London
  • Generate interest and awareness in young people of the types of opportunities available to them in the transportation and engineering sector
  • Support suppliers’ recruitment processes by enabling them access to a large number of young people who meet their job requirements
  • Provide recognition to suppliers who are actively engaging with TfL and the Mayor’s apprenticeship agenda, to thank them for their continued support and to promote further activity in the future
