An interesting YouGov poll on voting intentions

YouGov have done a pretty comprehensive poll on London Mayoral voting intentions, etc. It’s very interesting. Here are some facts from it:

9% of Tory voters intend to vote for Ken
12% of Labour voters intend to vote for Boris
BNP voters want Ken and not Boris
More women than men intend to vote for Boris
More men than women intend to vote for Ken.
You might expect Boris voters

to be mostly middle class – indeed 47% are, but 44% are working class, or, “C2DE”

However, Ken’s supporters are 46% middle class and only 41% working class. Voters are then asked who they would vote for if they had to. 46% go for Boris, and 41% for Ken. 17% of Labour voters would go for Boris if they “had to”. If voters “had to” vote for either candidate, working class people favour Boris by a whopping 44% to 37%. Lib Dem voters, if they had to, would go for Ken by 45% to 42% – after all, the London-centric Guardian did endorse the Lib Dems this year.

The next question asks Labour voters whether Ken would have made them more likely to vote Labour this year. 39% agreed that he would have made them more likely to vote Labour.

The same answer shows that 54% of Ken voters say he would have made them more likely to vote Labour.

37% of Labour voters think Boris is doing a good job
63% of Lib Dem voters think Boris is doing a good job
14% of Labour voters think Ken would do a bad job
Strangely even 4% of people intending to vote for Ken think he will do badly
3% of Ken voters think he is incompetent!
44% of Labour voters agree with Boris’ idea that trade unions should only be allowed to go on strike if more than 50% of all union members support the strike
So do 43% of Ken voters

This is more than either Labour or Ken voters who oppose such an idea
More Lib Dems and Labour voters have signed up to use Boris Bikes than have Tory voters
Lib Dems, Tories, Labour voters and Ken voters are all overwhelmingly supportive of Boris Bikes
